Although Recon-RF credits the San Diego, Orange, & Imperial PTAC for invaluable information and preparation with winning the contract, it is because of their hard work and persistence they were awarded an IDIQ contract (Award ID SPRWA1-19-F-0051) with the Air Force after only being founded in 2017. Recon-RF has already fulfilled its first task order (Order ID SPRWA1-19-D-0008) on the IDIQ contract for $125,000 and the contract has a potential value of $3.4 million over the next five years.

Recon-RF is a veteran-owned small business that designs and fabricates high-frequency integrated circuit (IC) components and Radio-Frequency modules for Commercial and DoD Systems for Wireless, Satellite and Space applications at frequencies of up to 110 GHz and beyond.

Recon-RF specializes in the design, fabrication, and testing of solid-state power-amplifiers, low-noise-amplifiers, mixers, transmit-receive modules, and phased-array antennas. Recon-RF possesses a unique suite of technical discriminators, which enable the highest performing radio frequency components in terms of efficiency, size, weight, and power.

The company also serves as an advanced R&D arm to commercial wireless and DoD companies, especially in the San Diego area. Recon-RF is located on the Qualcomm main campus of Sorrento Mesa, San Diego, CA.

Nick Chopra, CEO of Recon-RF commented, “We routinely met with our PTAC advisor, Jeff Cuskey, where we learned valuable skills which led to identifying this opportunity, how to locate and interpret key-references, how to submit a competitive response and what to do once we were awarded. Jeff provided invaluable counsel to us through every step of the process – from proposal development up to contract award.”

According to Operations Manager, Jef Ritter, “Through both Jeff Cuskey and other counselors we’ve worked with at the PTAC, Recon RF has been able to work hard and push to strategically attack different opportunities, be it within the SBIR program, RIF Program, or general FBO postings such as was the case here. We were able to work to create a proposal, have that reviewed, and get a final draft that eventually won us the award. Beyond that, PTAC has provided valuable online resources, such as access to Govology webinars that we attend regularly to make sure we’re always up to date with the latest government contracting information.”
